Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System Hospital is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric assessment and management for patients with co-morbid medical conditions within ambulatory adult psychiatry. The role includes medication management, patient education, and collaboration with medical staff.

The incumbent must maintain licensure and board certification with ABPN, be bilingual in English/Spanish, and participate in provider performance evaluation and required committee work.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited college/university required.
• Licensed as Physician and Surgeon in Illinois before start.
• Board Certification in General Psychiatry or board-eligible with goal to obtain within 2 years.
• Completion of accredited General Psychiatry Residency Program.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish required; testing administered.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial psychiatric assessments in ambulatory outpatient clinic.
• Ongoing medication management for referred patients.
• Direct care for medically ill patients in ambulatory/outpatient settings.
• Educate patients, students, residents, and staff on mental health screening and treatment.
• Document all encounters in the medical record and communicate recommendations to medical staff.
• Refer patients to psychiatric, medical, and social services.
• Maintain licensure, credentials, and ABPN certification; participate in performance evaluation and committees.
• Provide coverage for other psychiatrists within the Cook County Health system as needed.
