Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA seeks a Prototyping Technologist (Mechanical Technologist) to join our manufacturing team. You will advise on development and modification of tools, parts, assemblies, and components, with a focus on setup, operation, and programming in Creo in a low-volume production environment.

Onsite work at the Livermore facility is required. You will collaborate with engineers and CNC programmers to drive tooling solutions and manufacturability improvements

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 8 or more years of directly related experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build, modify, repair, maintain, align, evaluate, operate, and experiment with mechanical apparatus and equipment.
• Perform machining of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and prototypes.
• Analyze data and recommend modifications to components or test procedures.
• Create CNC and CAM programs.
• Compute dimensions and determine machining operations, materials, and tooling requirements.
• Design and build machine tool fixtures from drawings and specs.
• Machine jigs, fixtures, prototypes, and production parts.
• Recommend design substitutions based on manufacturability.
