Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA seeks a Prototyping Technologist (Mechanical Technologist) to join our manufacturing team. You will partner with engineers, CNC programmers, and designers to advise on development and modification of tools, parts, assemblies, and components.

This role blends machine setup, operation, and Creo programming in a low-volume production setting. On any given day you may develop, build, repair, and evaluate mechanical hardware, create CAM programs, and

Qualifications

High school diploma plus 8+ years of directly related experience.
Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Experience with CNC machinery, CAD/CAM, CREO NC, and wire EDM.

Responsibilities

Develop, build, modify, repair, maintain, align, evaluate, operate, and experiment with diverse mechanical apparatus and equipment.
Machining of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, prototypes, and production parts.
Create CNC and CAM programs and determine tooling requirements.
Analyze designs and suggest manufacturability improvements.
Design and build machine tool fixtures from drawings and specs.
