Job summary

Performance Foodservice seeks a Center of the Plate Buyer at a Senior Buyer level to procure proteins, including beef and pork, with transfer of experience from any fresh protein. The role requires a minimum of 2 years buying experience, urgency, and meticulous attention to detail, handling fresh and frozen beef, pork, lamb/veal, and related commodities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 2-4 years Procurement, warehouse and / or administrative experience in related area.
• Ability to work with urgency and maintain attention to detail.
• Collaborative approach with sales team.

Responsibilities

• Select vendors based on continuous supply, overall service level, market responsiveness, and product quality.
• Maintain relationships with vendors by resolving invoicing, product, or delivery issues to ensure service quality.
• Negotiate prices and quantities ordered based on customer orders, EOQ, promotions, and market conditions.
• Negotiate long-term contracts based on supply continuity and market needs.
• Support distribution centers for emergencies with product and delivery on an expedient basis.
• Provide product and pricing information to the sales force and advise on pricing strategies.
