Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Senior Protection Engineer – Distribution to lead protection, automation, and control solutions for distribution substations and feeders. You will work with sales, engineering, and product management to design, test, and commission advanced grid solutions ensuring reliability and efficiency.

The role requires cross-functional coordination, field service, and strong communication skills, with travel up to 50% across the US.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of electric utility experience in Substation/Distribution P&C.
• Experience with feeder protection and transformer protection concepts.
• Knowledge of FLISR/loop schemes with reclosers, switches & sectionalizers.
• Field service and commissioning experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with technical project management or product approvals in the electric power industry.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop protection, automation, and control solutions for distribution substations and feeders.
• Lead product approval processes with electric utility customers via demonstrations, testing, pilot installations and training.
• Develop Customer Requirement Documents (CRDs) based on customer feedback (VOC) and provide technical leadership for product development.
• Present technical papers at industry conferences to reinforce Beckwith’s technical credibility.
• Provide expert support for application, installation, and maintenance of protections and controls.
• Support sales with technical presentations, proposals, and RFQ responses; engage as SME with customers.
