Job summary

L.L. Blue Engineering seeks a Lead Protection & Controls Engineer to guide design, testing, commissioning, and modernization of substation protection and control systems for utility, industrial, and critical infrastructure clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Protection & Controls Engineering.
• Experience with transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Strong knowledge of protective relaying principles and power system protection schemes.
• Experience with relay settings development, relay coordination studies, and fault analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings.
• Experience with microprocessor-based protective relays such as SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Siemens, or similar platforms.
• Experience supporting field testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for design, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and modernization of substation protection and control systems.
• Develop and review protection and control designs, relay settings, and coordination studies.
• Lead project execution as a technical leader and mentor engineering staff.
• Support client relationships and ensure high-quality engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams throughout projects.
