Job summary

SpaceXAI in Memphis, TN is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer to design, set, commission, and maintain protection systems for large electrical infrastructure. The role covers transmission interconnection through data centers, with travel to other sites possible.

Responsibilities include developing schemes and wiring diagrams, calculating relay settings, and integrating protection with SCADA and IEC 61850 communications. A PE license or in-progress status is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of protection and controls experience on medium- or high-voltage systems.
• Hands-on experience with SEL relays and software (AcSELerator QuickSet, synchroWAVe or equivalents).
• Professional engineering mindset with field investigation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection philosophy and diagrams for facilities from interconnection to buses.
• Set and maintain protective relay logic for lines, transformers, feeders, and storage resources.
• Coordinate protection with SCADA/RTUs and communication schemes.
• Perform short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies; adjust settings as needed.
• Commission protection systems with end-to-end tests and timing checks.
