Job summary

AVANGRID is seeking a Senior Engineer in Protection & Control to design and configure automation, data collection, and protection subsystems across extensive transmission and substation assets. You will contribute to safe, timely project delivery and ensure compliant, reliable protection schemes.

The role requires 5+ years in engineering or 3 years in Protection & Control, a PE or eligibility, and proficiency with Aspen OneLiner, SEL/GE relay programming, and IEC 61850 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or technology.
• 5+ years of engineering experience or 3 years in Protection & Control.
• Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification.
• Experience with ASPEN OneLiner, SEL & GE Relay Programming, IEC61850 and protection coordination analysis.
• FERC, NERC, NPCC, and state regulations familiarity.
• Strong knowledge of power system analysis and protection fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay settings design and relay coordination analysis for transmission and substation protection systems.
• Lead engineering contractors and consultants on protection system settings for capital projects.
• Analyze disturbance events to ensure protection schemes operate correctly.
• Develop fault analysis reports with actionable recommendations.
• Lead NERC compliance programs for substation assets and support audits.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve protection and control system issues.
• Represent AVANGRID on regional and national committees.
