Job summary
AVANGRID is seeking a Senior Engineer in Protection & Control to design and configure protection and control subsystems across a broad electric delivery network. The role covers coordination analysis, relay settings, and performance validation for transmission and substations in NY, CT, ME, and beyond.
The candidate will lead contractors, analyze disturbance events, and deliver clear fault reports. A PE or eligibility, IEC61850 experience, and familiarity with NERC standards are required for
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
- Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification.
- 5+ years of engineering experience or 3+ years in Protection & Control.
- Experience with IEC61850, protection coordination analysis.
- FERC, NERC, NPCC familiarity and power system analysis knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Perform relay settings design and coordination analysis for transmission/substation protection systems.
- Lead engineering contractors and consultants on protection system settings for capital projects.
- Analyze disturbance events to ensure protection schemes perform reliably.
- Develop fault analysis reports for management with corrective actions.
- Lead NERC compliance programs and participate in audits.
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve protection and control issues.
- Represent AVANGRID on regional and national committees.
