New York Power Authority in White Plains seeks a Senior Protection & Controls Engineer to lead relay design, fault analysis, event review, and regulatory compliance across NYPA's transmission and generation systems.
You will serve as SME for P&C, provide design authority, mentor staff, guide compliance with NERC/NPCC standards, and support grid modernization initiatives while collaborating with NYISO and IEEE committees.
Senior Protection & Controls Engineers play a leading role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of NYPA's transmission and generation systems. As technical authorities in protective relaying, system disturbance analysis, and NERC/NPCC compliance, they oversee advanced engineering work, provide professional guidance, review and approve design packages, and mentor developing staff. Their leadership directly supports NYPA's grid modernization, asset management, and reliability strategies.
Senior P&C Engineers may contribute to flagship NYPA initiatives - such as transmission corridor rebuilds, highvoltage substation modernization, renewable project protection studies, and statewide grid resiliency enhancements - all vital to delivering clean, dependable energy for New Yorkers.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $146,000 - $182,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
