Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Propulsion Engineer – Level 3 in Promontory, UT to drive design and analysis of conceptual rocket motors and propulsion systems. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape vehicle concepts and evaluation of performance across flight regimes.

The successful candidate will have a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience (or equivalent), strong communication skills, and the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of professional experience, or a Master’s with 3+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
• Working knowledge of solid rocket motor design and performance.
• Working knowledge of launch vehicles and their designs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of conceptual rocket motor design, flight performance and system-level design and analysis.
• Present technical solutions to engineering organizations, internal/external customers, and leadership.
• Design and optimize conceptual propulsion elements and vehicles.
• Perform trajectory analysis of launch vehicles, missiles, and sounding rockets.
• Travel approximately 10% and undertake other duties as assigned.
