Job summary

USI Insurance Services seeks an experienced underwriter in Dallas, TX to handle large, complex risks, develop premiums, and manage broker and carrier relationships. You will provide insurance products to clients and contribute to profitability in line with company goals.

The role requires underwriting of new and renewal accounts, review of policies, risk assessment, and collaboration across teams, with travel to meet clients and partners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of underwriting experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• P&C license or appropriate business licensure required.
• Broad knowledge of insurance market and appetite.
• Ability to assess risk and ensure compliance.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
• Willingness to travel 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyze new and renewal accounts for the most complex assignments.
• Serve as subject matter expert to review insurance policy.
• Assess risk to determine price, coverage, terms and conditions; bind coverage and issue policy.
• Identify need, order, and evaluate additional risk information.
• Underwrite within defined broad limits and authority.
• Establish underwriting policy and procedures; provide reports to management.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agencies; negotiate with brokers for new business flow.
• Communicate with agents to obtain supplemental underwriting information.
• Analyze and rate endorsement requests.
• Recommend authority levels and program guidelines for underwriting staff.
• Collaborate with internal departments to execute program strategy.
• Engage in professional development and training; provide coaching to team.
• Travel for client meetings and education development.
