Job summary

Banneker Management is seeking a Property Manager in Silver Spring, MD to oversee multifamily assets, ensure financial performance and resident satisfaction. You will lead on-site operations, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with regulations while maintaining high standards of service and safety.

The role requires strong leadership, vendor oversight, and the ability to travel between properties; competitive base salary and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible multifamily property management experience.
• Minimum three years managing LIHTC, affordable housing, or mixed-income communities.
• Experience managing multiple properties or serving as the senior manager of a multifamily portfolio.
• Thorough knowledge of IRS Section 42, Fair Housing, and applicable landlord-tenant regulations.
• Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, collections, expense control, and variance analysis.
• Demonstrated success supervising maintenance operations, vendors, inspections, unit turns, and resident relations.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written communication, verbal communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with property management software and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel among assigned properties and respond to occasional after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day operations of the portfolio.
• Maintain on-site presence and regularly inspect buildings, grounds, and life-safety systems.
• Ensure communities are safe, clean, properly staffed, and within budgets.
• Review financial statements, rent rolls, accounts receivable/payable, and variances.
• Coordinate collection activities and legal actions per policy.
• Foster resident retention through responsive management and community engagement.
• Supervise maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendor performance.
