Job description

We're seeking an experienced property field claims adjuster to investigate and maintain property claims, secure information, review coverages, complete field inspections, and settle claims. You will handle moderately complex homeowner property field claims, typically within 1-2 hours of Southwest Cleveland/Lorain Ohio (you must be located in this market). You will also occasionally handle desk claims.

This is a fully remote/work from home role where you will spend 80% of your time in the field. On occasion, you may be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training, and culture events. You will report to the Property Claim Manager. A company fleet vehicle is provided with the position, with an option for personal use.

Position Compensation Range: $68,000.00 - $113,000.00

Pay Rate Type: Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

1. Investigate origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, SIU, other adjusters, and public personnel.
2. Identify complex issues and seek assistance. Handle claims on a good faith basis.
3. Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
4. Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and handle negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
5. Respond to customer inquiries, make decisions, and close files as needed.
6. Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and coverages, applying them to assigned losses.
7. Provide claim process updates and answer questions or redirect as needed.
8. Complete other assignments or participate in projects based on skills and experience.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills

1. Experience providing customer-driven solutions or support.
2. Experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across territories or equivalent.
3. Experience handling moderately complex claims or equivalent.
4. Knowledge of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages or equivalent.
5. Understanding of the claim handling process or equivalent.
6. Field property claims adjusting experience.
7. Xactimate estimate writing experience required.

Licenses

1. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
2. State-specific property casualty claims licensing.

Travel Requirements

1. Up to 50% travel; up to 75% during catastrophes.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and work in various environments including confined spaces.
2. Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

1. Exposure to temperature extremes, outdoor elements, noisy and hazardous environments, poor ventilation, and confined spaces.
