Job summary

associacareers seeks a Senior Accounting Manager to lead financial operations for a growing property management portfolio. You will direct property accounting, supervise onsite and virtual teams, and ensure accurate cash‑basis reporting across multiple properties and clients.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of property/real estate accounting, strong leadership, and expertise with AppFolio or similar platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of accounting experience within property management or real estate
• Proven leadership and team management experience (8–12 staff)
• Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines
• Collaborative mindset with cross‑department + remote teams
• Experience with client accounting and property financials
• Familiarity with property management platforms (AppFolio, Yardi, Buildium, RealPage, Entrata)
• Strong understanding of trust accounting and owner reporting
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Experience managing multi‑entity or multi-property portfolios
• Familiarity with property management compliance and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

• Oversee all property management accounting functions including GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, and owner distributions
• Lead and mentor accounting team onsite and virtual
• Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting for property owners using cash basis accounting
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closes across properties and entities
• Maintain internal controls and regulatory compliance
• Prepare owner statements, financial packages, and performance reports
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and stakeholders
• Drive process improvements leveraging technology to enhance efficiency
• Oversee trust accounts and client funds handling
• Develop and educate accounting policies and internal controls for scalable growth
• Manage client accounting and property financials across multiple properties
