Jobot in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to own full-cycle accounting for three substantial commercial properties, reporting directly to the CFO and coordinating with property management teams. Responsibilities include monthly closes, CAM reconciliations, rent roll review, financial reporting, and contributing to a MRI-to-Yardi conversion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2–6 years of relevant commercial property accounting experience.
• Hands-on CAM reconciliation experience.
• Experience with commercial properties; office, industrial, retail, or medical properties considered.
• Proficiency in MRI or Yardi; MRI experience preferred, exposure to both systems a plus.
• Experience owning monthly close, financial reporting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze detailed financial and tenant data.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Comfort adopting new technology and improving workflows.
• Interest in taking initiative and growing into broader accounting responsibilities.
• Ability to work onsite in Costa Mesa five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly close activities for assigned properties, including journal entries, accruals, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and reporting packages for management and joint venture partners.
• Analyze financial results and provide clear explanations of budget-to-actual variances.
• Prepare CAM estimates and annual reconciliations, applying lease terms and resolving discrepancies with property management teams.
• Reconcile rent rolls and review tenant billings, cash receipts, and lease-related charges for accuracy.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities for assigned properties, including vendor invoices, payment deadlines, and outstanding tenant balances.
• Support annual property budgets, cash flow estimates, and capital project cost tracking.
• Assist with tenant audits, accounting inquiries, and special reporting requests.
• Support the MRI-to-Yardi conversion, including data validation, reconciliations, and workflow improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and accounting procedures.
