Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group is seeking a Property Accountant or Senior Property Accountant to join a growing real estate accounting team. You will prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties and support financial reporting.

The role offers a hybrid schedule with two to three remote days per week and requires GAAP knowledge, 3+ years in real estate accounting, and Entrata or Yardi experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of real estate accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting.
• Experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations.
• Entrata or Yardi experience preferred.
• CPA designation or MBA preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple properties.
• Ability to work independently with accounting and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
• Review property accounting reports and investigate variances.
• Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations (prepaid expenses, capex, taxes, insurance).
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal accounting policies.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and planning for properties.
• Manage treasury activities (transfers, wires, ACH, positive pay).
• Review accounts payable for proper coding and approvals.
• Collaborate with property operations to resolve accounting issues.
• Support audits with documentation and schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and internal controls.
