Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• Experience in real estate accounting preferred.
• Familiarity with Yardi or MRI software is a plus.
• Public accounting or private real estate industry background is valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting for commercial and mixed-use properties.
• Prepare financial statements for assigned portfolio.
• Perform CAM reconciliations.
• Analyze GL and prepare journal entries, calculate accruals and adjustments, and maintain detailed workpapers monthly.
• Review results of operations and explain variances.
• Review invoices for correct coding and expense allocations.
• Prepare reconciliations of cash accounts, reserves and escrows.
• Monitor cash balances and request capital funding as needed.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Calculate real estate tax and operating expense escalations.
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers.
• Assist in tenant billing inquiries with A/R and legal departments.
• Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances or property sales.
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast.
• Prepare real estate tax certiorari filings.
• Serve as main contact for annual audits and tax return preparation.

My client, a well-established commercial real estate owner/developer, is seeking a strong Senior Property Accountant. This role offers close mentorship from a great mentor and significant potential for growth.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounting duties for commercial and mixed-use properties
• Prepare financial statements for assigned portfolio
• Perform CAM reconciliations
• Analyze the general ledger for each property, prepare journal entries, calculate accruals and adjustments and maintain detailed workpaper files on a monthly basis
• Review results of operations and provide detailed explanations of variances
• Review invoices to ensure correct account coding and expense allocations
• Prepare reconciliations of all cash accounts, reserves and escrows
• Monitor cash balances and request capital funding, as needed
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Calculate real estate tax and operating expense escalations
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers
• Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departments
• Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances and/or sales of properties
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast
• Prepare real estate tax certiorari filings
• Serve as the main contact for annual audits and tax return preparation

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Background in public accounting or private industry within the real estate industry
• Knowledge of Yardi, MRI or similar software is preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
