JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the financial reporting for all assigned properties with emphasis on account analysis, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Communication and interaction with property management teams.
- Handling accounts payable for separate entities and vendors
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
- Monitor properties cash position regularly.
- Complete daily and monthly cash reconciliations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Responsible for recording fixed assets and booking depreciation.
- Work with Property & Regional Managers to develop budget variance explanations.
- Create and post adjusting journal entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements according to GAAP which includes in-depth review of general ledger, and balance sheet & income statement accounts.
- Ensure internal and external reporting deadlines are met.
- Help develop and update Accounting Policies and Procedures
- Assist in training and managing completion of tasks of Accounting Specialists.
- Assist in setting up books for newly acquired properties.
- Assist in the final accounting for acquisitions and dispositions.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance, required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience (multi-family property industry preferred)
- Knowledge of Entrata or other property management software/systems preferred
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or working towards certification.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Must possess demonstrated effective written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong general math skills.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, planning, and execution skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; possesses strong general computer skills.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn accounting software/systems.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn Property Management software/systems.
- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish preferred, but not required
