Job summary

VIKA Tysons, VA is seeking a Senior Project Surveyor / Project Manager to lead complex survey and land development projects from start to finish. The role combines cadastral precision with team leadership across multi-disciplinary groups, and serves as primary client contact.

The ideal candidate holds LS or SIT with LS plans, 6–8 years of experience, and proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD. In-office role at Tysons office with strong growth and mentoring responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor License required or SIT with plans to obtain LS.
  • 6–8 years of progressive surveying experience with project leadership.
  • Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Advanced proficiency in boundary, ALTA, topographic, and cadastral surveys.

  • Strong written and verbal communication; client-facing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead survey operations and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Prepare surveying documents for project development phases.
  • Review title reports and ensure conformance to jurisdictional requirements.
  • Attend client meetings and serve as client-facing point of contact.
  • Provide training resources for project surveyors and technicians.
  • Support proposal development and business development efforts.

We are seeking a Senior Project Surveyor / Project Manager who is a proven leader with advanced technical expertise ready to take ownership of complex survey and land development projects from start to finish. The successful candidate will lead survey operations and coordination efforts across VIKA's multi-disciplinary teams, apply advanced knowledge of boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and regulatory bodies. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on both the technical precision of cadastral work and the relational demands of client and team leadership.

This is an in-office position based at our Tysons, Virginia office.

  • Professional Land Surveyor License (LS) required, or Surveyor-In-Training (SIT) with plans to obtain LS
  • 6–8 years of progressive surveying experience, including project leadership

Your Impact
  • Survey Leadership: Lead survey operations while assisting Director(s), applying advanced knowledge of coordinate geometry computations and preparing surveying documents for specific project development phases.
  • Advanced Technical Expertise: Demonstrate advanced experience in cut sheet preparation, construction stakeout, and all aspects of cadastral surveys, plats, and easement documents with conformance to jurisdictional requirements, review title reports, prepare ALTA surveys.
  • Project Coordination: Lead coordination efforts with clients, agencies, and VIKA multi-disciplinary teams, maintain advanced proficiency in boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys.
  • Professional Excellence: Attend client meetings, serve as training resource for Project Surveyors and Survey Technicians, participate in industry events, and maintain advanced knowledge of all regulatory approval processes and standards.
  • Professional Growth: Participate in professional development activities, assist in proposal development, support project billing functions, and contribute to business development efforts while gaining advanced jurisdictional experience.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 – $95,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, in accordance with applicable law.
