Senior Project Manager, Product Development (Professional Audio)
Position Snapshot
  • Department: R&D / Product Development

  • Location: Inwood, NY, near Far Rockaway and the Queens border, minutes from the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue A train terminal

  • Schedule: Full-time, onsite 5 days per week

  • Compensation: $95,000-$120,000 per year, based on relevant experience

  • Role Type: Senior project management role supporting physical product development, overseas manufacturing, R&D, new product introduction (NPI), and cross-functional project execution

Rockville is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager, Product Development to manage the development of physical consumer audio electronic products and accessories from initial requirements and factory samples through prototype evaluation, revisions, production approval, and launch readiness.

This role requires direct experience managing the development of manufactured physical products. The ideal candidate has coordinated engineering and product development teams, overseas factories or contract manufacturers, sample builds, testing, product revisions, and the steps required to bring products into mass production.

Rockville is a growing ecommerce audio equipment brand specializing in car audio, marine audio, pro audio, DJ equipment, recording equipment, lighting, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, studio monitors, accessories, and related products.

Our R&D team works across new product introductions, manufacturer-developed products, and customized or improved product designs. We need a highly organized, technically conversant project manager who can bring structure, urgency, and visibility to this process while making it easier for our engineering and product teams to focus on their work.

What Makes This Role Stand Out
  • Physical Product Development: Manage real products through factory sampling, prototype evaluation, testing, revisions, and manufacturing readiness.

  • International Coordination: Work with R&D, Product Development, overseas manufacturing partners, and internal stakeholders to keep projects advancing.

  • ClickUp Ownership: Build and improve workflows, automations, dashboards, reporting, and project management infrastructure.

  • Executive Visibility: Provide leadership with clear product roadmaps, milestones, priorities, risks, blockers, and decisions requiring attention.

  • Cross-Functional Impact: Help coordinate the transition from R&D and approved product development into production and Marketing launch preparation.

What You’ll Own
  • Manage product development schedules from project kickoff through sample development, prototype testing, design revisions, approval milestones, and production readiness.

  • Coordinate with engineering, R&D, Product Development, QC, and overseas suppliers or contract manufacturers to track deliverables, sample requests, lead times, and outstanding issues.

  • Maintain clear visibility into prototype status, testing results, technical feedback, required revisions, and approvals by designated product and engineering owners.

  • Track specifications, BOM changes, documentation, dependencies, and stage-gate requirements to support timely, accurate handoffs into manufacturing.

  • Organize the R&D product roadmap, establish realistic milestones, identify critical paths, and proactively address risks, delays, and competing priorities.

  • Lead recurring project meetings, communicate decisions, assign and track action items, and follow up assertively with internal teams and external partners.

  • Administer and improve ClickUp, including workspace structures, custom fields, templates, automations, dashboards, reporting, and project documentation.

  • Translate senior leadership priorities into concise executive dashboards highlighting project status, deadlines, blockers, resource constraints, and items requiring decisions.

  • Use AI tools, AI agents, and automation to streamline reporting, meeting follow-up, documentation, research, and repetitive project management activities.

  • Coordinate with Marketing, Ecommerce, and Product teams on launch readiness, including final product information, content dependencies, approvals, and timelines.

  • Help establish practical project management standards and reporting habits that support a growing, fast-moving business without creating unnecessary administrative work.

First 90 Days

Quickly understand Rockville's product development pipeline, establish working relationships with R&D and manufacturing stakeholders, assess existing ClickUp workflows, and improve visibility into sample status, testing progress, revision cycles, project priorities, and production-readiness milestones.

Success will be measured by stronger project coordination, reliable reporting, improved accountability, fewer avoidable delays, and reduced administrative burden on technical teams.

What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of project management experience supporting physical product development, R&D, engineering, or new product introduction, including products that progress through samples, prototypes, testing, and production approval.

  • Direct experience coordinating with overseas manufacturers, OEM/ODM partners, or contract manufacturers on physical product development.

  • 3+ years of relevant project management experience in an ecommerce business or a product brand supporting ecommerce channels.

  • Advanced-to-expert ClickUp experience required, including hands-on workflow configuration, automations, dashboards, and reporting.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing or significantly improving project management infrastructure and team adoption.

  • Strong practical proficiency with AI tools, AI agents, and workflow automation.

  • Excellent communication skills, technical curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to work with engineers, manufacturers, executives, and cross-functional teams.

  • Assertive, self-directed project leadership with experience supervising people and driving accountability across teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, changing priorities, international time-zone dependencies, and detailed technical deliverables.

  • Ability to work onsite five days per week in Inwood, NY, with a reliable commute of less than one hour.

Strongly Preferred
  • Active PMP certification.
  • Product development experience in consumer electronics, audio equipment, electrical products, accessories, appliances, or related manufactured goods.

  • Familiarity with product specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change requests, prototype validation, QC processes, and production-release procedures.

  • Experience with factory sampling cycles, product modifications, new product introduction (NPI), and overseas supplier coordination.

  • Experience supporting Marketing, Ecommerce, and Product teams during new product launches.

  • Lean Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, Agile, or related continuous improvement training or certification.

Role Fit

This role may be a strong fit for candidates with experience as a Product Development Project Manager, New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Manager, Hardware Project Manager, R&D Project Manager, Engineering Project Manager, or Consumer Electronics Program Manager.

Experience managing software, IT, construction, legal, or creative projects alone does not meet the core requirements. We are looking for someone who has managed the development of tangible, manufactured products and understands the coordination required to move physical samples through testing, revisions, and production approval.

The right person combines hands-on project management support with confident communication, practical technical understanding, and the discipline to keep engineers, manufacturing partners, and leadership aligned.
