Job summary

Kimley-Horn seeks a Transportation Practice Builder in Sacramento, CA to lead growth of our local transportation engineering practice. You will market, win and deliver transportation planning, traffic engineering and ITS projects, while mentoring staff and building client relationships.

You will have autonomy to shape the practice, set goals, and drive strategy with potential for ownership and a strong incentive bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
• 15+ years in transportation planning, traffic engineering, operations, or ITS planning/design.
• Registered PE and/or TE license.
• Track record winning and delivering work in Sacramento and nearby areas.
• Established relationships with local DOT, agencies or municipalities.
• Ability to manage projects profitably and communicate across levels.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Transportation Practice Builder to join our office in Sacramento, California (CA)!

Responsibilities

• Has an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for growth in their personal practice while contributing to the growth of our transportation engineering practice in the local area and beyond
• Assists in marketing and business development efforts with our existing local municipal, state, and private clients, while delivering a wide variety of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and/or ITS-related projects with our growing team of transportation professionals
• Beyond serving our existing clients, has the ability to pursue own passions, project opportunities and clients
• Leadership responsibilities include:

  • Establishing goals
  • Building and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Having open communication with your partners and team
  • Growing and leading a Transportation practice
• Our Practice Builders manage their projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
• At least 15 years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, traffic operations, and/or ITS planning and design
• Registered license (PE and/or TE)
• Track record of successfully winning and delivering work in Sacramento and surrounding communities
• Established relationships with local DOT, local agencies, and/or local municipalities
• Demonstrated ability to manage transportation projects profitably through agency specifications
• Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills
• Strong desire and ability to be engaged with clients solving project problems
• Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization
• Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively in a positive manner

Base Salary Range:

• $145,000 - $250,000
• Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation
