Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Transportation Practice Builder to join our Escondido, California office. The role focuses on growing a transportation practice through leadership, client development, and strong project delivery.

You will lead a team, mentor staff, and pursue new opportunities with local and regional clients, with a compensation package that includes a base salary and performance-based bonus potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
  • At least 15 years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, traffic operations, and/or ITS planning and design.
  • Registered PE and/or TE license(s).
  • Track record of winning and delivering work in Escondido and surrounding communities.
  • Established relationships with local DOT, local agencies, and/or municipalities.
  • Ability to manage transportation projects profitably and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

  • Create a growth vision for personal practice while contributing to the transportation engineering practice.
  • Assist in marketing and business development with municipal, state, and private clients while delivering transportation projects.
  • Pursue personal project opportunities and clients beyond existing work.
  • Lead and mentor staff, manage profitability, and grow the practice.
  • Autonomy to lead, direct, and grow the business with opportunities for ownership and bonuses.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Transportation Practice Builder to join our office in Escondido, California (CA)!

Responsibilities
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for growth in their personal practice while contributing to the growth of our transportation engineering practice in the local area and beyond
  • Assists in marketing and business development efforts with our existing local municipal, state, and private clients, while delivering a wide variety of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and/or ITS-related projects with our growing team of transportation professionals
  • Beyond serving our existing clients, has the ability to pursue own passions, project opportunities and clients
  • Leadership responsibilities include:
    • Operating with integrity and sound business principals
    • Providing vision, business planning and strategy
    • Establishing goals
    • Building and maintaining positive client relationships
    • Having open communication with your partners and team
    • Growing and leading a Transportation practice
  • Our Practice Builders manage their projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor
  • The successful candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy to lead, direct, and grow their business
  • With success, this individual will enjoy the rewards of an impressive bonus program with the potential to advance to ownership

Base Salary Range:

  • $150,000 - $250,000
  • Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation
