Job summary

SOCOTEC's Code & Planning department provides code compliance, permitting, and project management services that guide construction, filing, and municipal approval processes from initial planning through final sign-off.

The Senior Project Manager is the primary driver of project success, acting as the central contact among clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and municipal agencies while ensuring plans meet regulatory requirements and are delivered on time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of project management experience.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with solid listening.
• Team player with initiative and ability to work independently.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities across concurrent projects.
• Lead teams and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
• Experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or real estate development.
• Advanced knowledge of municipal permitting, code compliance, and filing (DOB, FDNY, DOT, LPC).
• Experience with architects, engineers, contractors, and municipal agencies.
• DOB Class 2 License or eligibility to obtain it upon hire.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Create and manage project deliverables such as plans, reports, risk logs, and meeting minutes.
• Serve as primary client contact for milestones, filings, permits, and updates.
• Deliver services within established timelines and budgets.
• Plan, coordinate, and lead activities to meet objectives and schedules.
• Prepare client communications and status reports on a set frequency.
• Capture meeting notes and draft project documentation.
• Adhere to SOPs to ensure quality and consistency.
• Communicate milestone updates to clients, including permits and approvals.
• Act as the central contact across internal departments.
• Maintain internal status updates in firm software for billing.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; escalate as needed.
• Attend meetings and calls representing the firm and client interests.
• Perform additional duties to support departmental goals.
