Job summary

Columbia University in the City of the City of New York is seeking an Associate Director of Capital Project Management to lead housing portfolio projects within CUIMC. You will supervise a complex team of consultants, facilities staff, and multiple client groups to ensure projects meet varied needs.

You will coordinate with Housing, Facilities Operations, Public Safety, EH&S, IT and Space Planning, managing budgets, schedules, and contracts from inception to transition to operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction, plus four years of related experiences in design and construction.
• Experience managing high-quality residential renovation projects in New York City buildings.
• Relevant experience in building exterior envelope repairs and renovation projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities under pressure.
• Familiarity with construction contracts and bidding processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee projects from inception to completion and transition to Operations.
• Prepare standard contracts for architectural, engineering and construction services.
• Coordinate on-site activities of general contractors and construction managers.
• Prepare requisitions, purchase orders, and track invoices for payment.
• Develop budgets and schedules for design, construction, relocations, furniture procurement and move-ins.
• Create a record-keeping system for project-related documents.
• Review infrastructure/MEP drawings and provide technical oversight.
• Ensure compliance with university standards and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Lead and coordinate with Housing, Facilities Operations, Public Safety, EH&S, Data/Telephone and Space Planning teams.
• Demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, and cost-effective solutions.
