TheUS West Regionis looking for a motivatedSenior Project Manager - Highways Roads to support GHD’s established Highways, Roads, Bridges practice throughout the California and the US West. We are seeking a proactive Senior Transportation Project Manager with the skills to help take our practice to the next level in the delivery of highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other enriching and vital improvements.
Through a broad network of clients, GHD has exposure to these transportation projects through Federal, State, Regional, County, and Municipal agencies and private sectors. This is a unique opportunity to join a large, well-established organization with a culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, and respect. You will work closelywith our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization and our clients to efficiently deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services.
This position will be based out of any of our California offices, ( San Diego, Irvine, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Concord, Santa Rosa, Roseville, San Francisco) but will be networked through our offices across the West Region with a focus on our offices in California.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project Management:Lead and manage transportation infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
- Team Leadership: Lead cohesive teams, including subconsultants, to achieve project objectives, promoting collaboration, and creating a positive work environment.
- Client Relationship Management: Actively participate in client relationship management, attend client meetings as needed.
- Technical Guidance and Project Oversight: Provide expertise and guidance on various engineering projects and oversee the production of complex engineering designs, drawings, details, and specifications.
- Risk Management:Identify and mitigate project risks, including resolving conflicts and addressing project issues.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Play a crucial role in coaching and mentoring junior staff, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Community and Professional Engagement: Actively engaging in community and professional organizations, representing our company and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
What you will bring to the team:
- Experience in transportation project management, specifically in highways and roads.
- A self-starter with excellent communication, time management and leadership skills.
- Proficient with project management software and tools.
- Ability to lead the development of project/client proposals and participate in interviews as needed.
- Knowledge of Caltrans and AASHTO guidelines and standards and a strong foundation and understanding of PS&E package development.
- Experience with local agency, state and federally funded transportation projects including projects delivered in partnership with Caltrans through their oversight process.
- Demonstrated ability to direct and delegate work assignments to others, ensuring efficient project execution, efficient delivery and schedule adherence.
- Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating risk and solving problems, both technical and delivery related.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California Required
- 12+ years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills across the transportation & municipal engineering, including a strong background in planning & design; construction experience a plus.

Salary Range: $138,000-$207,000 based on experience
