Job summary

Fairbanks North Star Borough is seeking an experienced Project Manager for major Borough construction and design projects. You will coordinate with Architects/Engineers and department PMs to manage scope, schedule, and budget across electrical, mechanical, architectural, and structural domains.

The role emphasizes contract administration, consultant selection, and owner-representative duties, with collaboration across multiple agencies and utilities.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in architecture, engineering, or construction project management from accredited programs.
• Six years of experience, including four years in direct project management of large facilities.
• Knowledge of building codes and design/construction standards.
• Experience managing scope, schedule, and budgets for complex projects.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project, BIM, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager on Borough construction projects.
• Coordinate with department PMs and architects to ensure consistency.
• Assist in selecting consulting firms for Borough projects.
• Negotiate and manage professional service contracts.
• Review designs, drawings, and specs for compliance.
• Coordinate with utilities and agencies during reviews.
• Develop and update project management procedures and forms.
• Observe construction and act as owner representative.
• Prepare reports and provide technical advice for Public Works.
• Maintain and monitor project budgets and schedules.
