Langan is seeking a Environmental Permitting and Compliance Senior Project Manager to join its collaborative team in California. This individual will perform air permitting and compliance, industrial wastewater and stormwater compliance, storage tank registration and compliance evaluations, waste management, multi-media environmental compliance audits, development of monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans, and report writing. The role includes guiding and reviewing the work of staff, preparing permits and plans, and interacting with clients and senior management.

Job Responsibilities

1. Prepare permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, storage tanks, EPCRA (Tier II, TRI);
2. Perform multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews;
3. Develop and support implementation and management of various monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans/programs (SPCC, FRP, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, etc.);
4. Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments;
5. Lead and/or assist in the preparation of proposals including scope and costs;
6. Manage project budgets and assist in invoicing as project or task manager;
7. Interact with and build relationships with clients, contractors/subcontractors, and internal practice leaders;
8. Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and responsiveness to client needs;
9. Manage and deliver on multiple projects within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines;
10. Prepare technical documents including reports, plans, permit applications, and other deliverables;
11. Train and mentor junior staff; and,
12. Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to support projects throughout the US.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or Science; Master’s degree preferred;
2. 10+ years of experience with regulations and environmental permitting;
3. Professional certification preferred;
4. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;
5. Ability to manage multiple clients and projects effectively;
6. Willingness to identify new client opportunities;
7. Excellent communication skills;
8. Strong attention to detail, analytical, multitasking, and judgment skills;
9. Ability to work independently and in a team;
10. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

The estimated salary range for this role is $112,500 - $171,000, based on experience and other factors. Compensation may include overtime, bonuses, and paid time off, with specifics varying by location and individual circumstances.
