Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Senior Project Manager for data center electrical construction in Charlotte, NC. This onsite, full-time leadership role will own projects from estimating through closeout, guiding budgets, schedules and stakeholders while delivering mission-critical electrical systems.

You will coordinate field teams, vendors and subcontractors, mentor staff, promote safety, and report regularly to senior operations leadership. A track record on data center projects is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction project management experience.
• 5+ years of electrical project management on large, complex IT/telecom infrastructure projects, including data centers.
• Hands-on experience with data center electrical distribution, cabling and white space fit-outs.
• Experience with retrofits in live facilities and coordinating across critical facility systems.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead data center and critical facility electrical projects from proposal through completion, meeting design, budget and schedule requirements.
• Prepare estimates, review proposals, and set project scopes, budgets, timelines and resource plans.
• Coordinate project staff, field teams and subcontractors.
• Work with vendors so materials and equipment are bought and delivered on time.
• Manage RFPs, change orders and the change management process.
• Drive billing and collections to keep project cash flow healthy.
• Forecast project finances and adjust course to protect margins.
• Visit job sites regularly to track progress and solve problems.
• Mentor and develop project team members.
• Promote a strong safety culture and follow policies.

Senior Project Manager – Data Center Electrical Construction

Location: Charlotte, NC | Onsite | Full-Time

About the Opportunity

Reputable and well-established electrical contractor is seeking Senior Project Manager for large, complex data center and mission-critical projects. This is a client-facing leadership role reporting to senior operations leadership. You'll own projects from estimating through closeout, build strong relationships with customers and your team, and grow through hands-on project work, peer collaboration and ongoing technical training. The company is known for quality work, a collaborative culture and strong support for its employees.

What You'll Do

• Lead data center and critical facility electrical projects from proposal through completion, meeting design, budget and schedule requirements
• Prepare estimates, review proposals, and set project scopes, budgets, timelines and resource plans
• Coordinate project staff, field teams and subcontractors
• Work with vendors so materials and equipment are bought and delivered on time
• Manage RFPs, change orders and the change management process
• Drive billing and collections to keep project cash flow healthy
• Forecast project finances and adjust course as needed to protect margins
• Visit job sites regularly to track progress and solve problems
• Help leadership plan future labor and material needs
• Give senior management regular project reports and updates
• Work with customers before, during and after construction to set expectations and meet them
• Mentor and develop project team members
• Promote a strong safety culture and follow company, client and project policies

What You Bring

Required:

• 10+ years of construction project management experience
• 5+ years of electrical project management on large, complex IT/telecom infrastructure projects, including data centers
• Hands-on experience with data center electrical distribution, cabling and white space fit-outs
• Experience with retrofits in live, operating facilities and coordinating across critical facility systems
• Strong computer skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly
• Calm, organized and decisive under tight deadlines and outside pressure
• Strong scheduling, delegation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to keep improving your communication, organization and leadership
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time without employer sponsorship. Visa sponsorship, including H-1B, is not available for this role.

Preferred:

• Mission-critical project experience
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, engineering, business or a related field. A combination of experience, education and certifications, such as a journeyman or master electrician license, will also be considered.
• PMP or PMI-SP certification
• Experience with electrical estimating software, CRM platforms and cloud-based collaboration tools
