Senior Project Manager | Data Center Construction | Electrical

Location: Charlotte, NC (Relocation Assistance Available for Qualified Candidates)

Partnered with a leading ENR electrical contractor specializing in complex Data Center and Mission Critical construction that is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its growing team. This is a client-facing leadership opportunity for an electrical construction professional with significant experience managing large-scale, complex projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile Data Center projects while taking on significant responsibility for project execution, financial performance, client relationships, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the execution of large-scale Data Center electrical construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
• Ensure compliance with company, client, and project policies.
• Maintain a strong focus on job site safety and adherence to national company policies.
• Generate estimates and review project proposals.
• Establish project timelines, budgets, resource requirements, and execution strategies.
• Supervise project execution to meet design, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Work directly with customers to clarify and meet expectations before, during, and after project completion.
• Coordinate the activities of project staff, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Work directly with vendors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
• Lead efforts around billing early and collecting often.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify issues, and implement solutions.
• Develop and maintain strong client and employee relationships.
• Assist leadership with planning future labor and material requirements.
• Provide consistent project reporting and updates to senior management.
• Forecast project financial performance and proactively course-correct when required.
• Develop project scopes and budgets.
• Manage RFPs, change management forms, and project changes.
• Mentor and develop project team members.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across project delivery, communication, organization, and leadership.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of construction project management experience.
• 5+ years of electrical project management experience supporting large-scale, complex IT/Telecommunications Infrastructure projects, including Data Centers.
• Experience managing Data Center electrical distribution systems, cabling, and white space fit-out.
• Experience delivering retrofits within operational facilities.
• Understanding of cross-discipline critical facility systems.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new project management systems.
• Ability to remain calm and effective while working under deadlines and external pressure.
• Strong communication, organization, delegation, and leadership skills.
• Effective scheduling and resource management capabilities.
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
• A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Mission Critical / Data Center project experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, combined with relevant industry experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and industry experience will also be considered, including a Journeyman or Master Electrician's license.
• PMP or PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, COINS, and ConEst.
