Job Description

The Weitz Company is hiring a Senior Project Manager to be located on data center projects for the Mission Critical Business Unit.

The Project Manager is responsible for profitably managing all administrative and field construction activities to quality standards, while maintaining relationships with all stakeholders on assigned projects. This individual will often oversee multiple medium-sized projects, a single large-sized project, or an assigned scope on a single, large, complex project. The Project Manager is expected to demonstrate leadership by following company standards and policies, achieving shared goals, developing others, and building high morale and commitment.

What You'll Do:
  1. Prepare and manage project schedule; identify and address long lead items; update project plan as required; initiate changes to ensure adherence
  2. Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders
  3. Complete monthly project status reports, owner billings, and financial risk assessments
  4. Identify and recommend value engineering and scope reduction opportunities
  5. Ensure project safety plan is completed and communicated to project team and subcontractors
  6. Assist with preconstruction efforts
  7. Manage buy-out process
  8. Detect constructability issues with project design
  9. Understand contract terms, budgets, insurances, bonds, and change orders; ensure adherence including work progress being within scope
  10. Recommend staff development needs, disciplinary actions, job assignments, and promotions
  11. Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of five (5) years of extensive field and project management experience
    • Experience in a fast-paced environment
    • Proven success in leading, developing, and mentoring others
    • Data center experience is strongly preferred
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
    • Ability to analyze systems and related costs
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Business acumen and relationship-building skills
  • Technology:
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Apple products, and the ability to learn specific software
    • Experience with Procore, JDE, and Asta is a plus
    • Training will be provided on company standards
