Job summary

AC Transit in Oakland, California, is seeking a qualified Project Manager II (Capital Projects) to lead complex planning and capital construction efforts within the Planning and Engineering department. Under general direction, the PMII handles full lifecycle of major projects with professional, technical, and contract staff.

This advanced level role requires strong judgment, independence, and the ability to coordinate with grants management, engineering design, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of professional project management experience
• Experience at level equivalent to Project Manager I or higher
• Education may be substituted by experience per policy

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs daily functions of staff on district projects
• Manages full lifecycle of projects: scope, timeline, budget, quality
• Develops project timelines, milestones, staffing, and contracting needs
• Prepares and tracks project budgets, reviews invoices, and approves payments
• Manages changes, communicates risk, and implements contingency plans
• Coordinates with grants management, design, and procurement functions
• Provides technical and functional direction to staff and manages assigned projects
