Job summary

Carrier Johnson + Culture (CJ+C) seeks a Senior Project Manager / Architect to lead complex civic and higher education projects in California from planning through construction. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, drive quality, schedule, and budgets, and ensure rigorous stakeholder collaboration in active institutional environments.

You bring 12+ years licensed experience, California familiarity, and proven success in public procurement, design-build or CM at Risk delivery, and leadership

Qualifications

• Registered/Licensed Architect; California licensure preferred.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
• 12+ years of professional experience managing civic/higher education or complex public/institutional projects in California.
• Experience leading RFQ/RFP pursuits for public-sector work, including design-build or alternative delivery methods.
• Strong experience with public/institutional clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of California Building Code, accessibility, and public agency permitting; DSA experience preferred for higher education.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project delivery across all phases, managing scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Serve as the primary client interface, aligning multiple stakeholders across public and institutional environments.
• Coordinate internal teams and external consultants for integrated design and technical solutions.
• Guide projects through regulatory approvals, permitting, and public agency processes, including DSA.
• Collaborate with Design Leaders to align design intent with constraints and delivery requirements.
• Lead RFQ and RFP pursuits for civic/higher education work, including design-build and alternative delivery.
• Oversee construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and field coordination.
• Manage workplans, staffing, fees, and resource alignment; contract and consultant management.
• Anticipate risks and develop mitigation strategies; uphold quality and compliance.
