Job Summary:

A leading biopharmaceutical company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support engineering project planning and execution. This remote contract role requires candidates to be based in or near Cambridge, MA or Thousand Oaks, CA due to occasional onsite collaboration needs. The role focuses on building and maintaining cross-functional project plans, coaching engineering staff, and enhancing reporting tools and processes across engineering initiatives.

Ideal candidates will bring strong experience in engineering project management, exceptional communication skills, and hands-on expertise with project tools like Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, and the Power Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage detailed project schedules across multiple engineering workstreams
• Partner with senior leaders to conduct scenario analysis and reprioritize initiatives as needed
• Coach engineers at all levels on effective timeline planning and execution strategies
• Identify and resolve execution roadblocks to keep projects on track
• Lead training efforts for Smartsheet timeline development and tool usage
• Maintain accurate project tracking data and ensure timely system updates
• Build and automate reports using Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, and Project Online
• Support the selection and management of external vendors for project analysis tooling

Basic Qualifications:

One of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of experience in engineering project management
• Associate degree + 9 years of relevant experience
• High school diploma / GED + 11 years of relevant experience
• Strong project management experience within engineering, preferably in biopharma or related industries
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, scenario modeling), Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Hands-on experience with Smartsheet portfolios, dashboards, and resource management
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across diverse stakeholder groups
• Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of pharmaceutical or combination product development processes
• Familiarity with design control, testing, and validation standards
• Experience with Microsoft Project Server, SAP PPM, or equivalent enterprise tools
