Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning and supervising work related to Capital Projects. Duties involve planning, interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating major projects throughout the District, performing work, calculating costs, and conducting various facilities studies; and preparing multiyear planning programs.

SALARY SCHEDULE: A-3
WORK DAYS: 250

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education Level: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Construction, Project Management, Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Construction, Project Management, Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field.
2. Experience, Skill, and Certification:


• 7 years of relevant project management experience working in the construction industry.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software.
• Strong leadership, team building, organizational and management skills.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
• Demonstrated success in simultaneously leading large, complex projects and multiple teams.
• Ability to read and interpret all construction related documents.
• Experience in advocacy and cooperative relationships with external and internal agencies such as state and local.
• Advanced communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to read all construction related documents.
• Must have operations experience: transportation, logistics, maintenance, and/or planning.
• Ability to get Project Management Professional Certification.
• Eligible for an educational support license/
• Eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Support Certificate.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
Preferred:
• Project Management Professional Certification.
• Experience in a comparable urban school district.
• Previous K-12 facility design experience.
• Experience with site evaluations including those required for GA Department of Education site approval.
• Experience with GA Department of Education funding mechanisms and procedures.
• Experience in both public and private sectors.
• Management of major construction projects.
Exposure to Primavera P6 Scheduling Software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Work with the Executive Director to develop strategic plans for ESPLOST and capital projects within the framework of the Local Facilities Plan and other operational plans.
2. Develop, analyze, evaluate, and update practices and design within the Construction Design Guidelines (CDG).
3. Create and manage project budget. Monitor expenses to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budget.
4. Manage all facets of project design, construction, and occupancy.
5. Manages a project team by providing direction and leadership.
6. Maintains construction documents in accordance with State of Georgia records retention requirement.
7. Manages the day-to-day operations of the facilities construction activities with the Capital Projects department to include planning, budgeting, assigning, and tracking work assignments, troubleshooting problems with staff and fostering growth and development of staff.
8. Tracks progress of projects using eBuilder and other tracking software; innovate/ improve based on results.
9. Relate to a wide variety of people. Observe, listen, and provide leadership which results in the best possible work environment.
10. Solve problems, set, and achieve priorities, meet deadlines, and analyze data.
11. Read, understand, and assist in development of construction related documents.
12. Supports the vision and goals of the organization by actively participating in its leadership activities, trainings and upholding its policies and standards.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief, Capital Projects.
14. Eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered “at will.” This is an “essential personnel, critical staff” position. When there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations, this position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R. Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade A-3 of the Administrator Salary Scale and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. The work calendar will be the 250 days. This position is exempt and is contingent on the continuation of the ESPLOST program. Rev. 06/2021
