Job description

Role Summary

The Senior Project Manager leads delivery across several projects that already have proficient workstream owners. This role is not a hands-on task manager for every work package. The primary accountability is to coordinate workstream owners and delivery teams, integrate dependencies, and own an accurate, current, and actionable integrated schedule.

Success in this role is measured by schedule integrity, clean cross-team coordination, timely exception handling, and stakeholder confidence—not by personally executing workstream deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
Schedule ownership
  • Own the integrated master schedule across all workstreams, including milestones, dependencies, critical path, and float.
  • Maintain schedule hygiene: baseline control, change impact analysis, slip tracking, and recovery options.
  • Run a consistent cadence of schedule reviews with workstream owners; publish a single source of truth.
  • Translate workstream plans into one coordinated timeline and flag collisions before they become delays.
Team and workstream coordination
  • Coordinate proficient workstream owners; clarify scope boundaries, handoffs, and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate standups, workstream syncs, and cross-stream planning sessions focused on dependencies and decisions.
  • Ensure each workstream has a named owner, capacity, and a current plan that rolls up to the master schedule.
  • Escalate only true exceptions—decisions, resource conflicts, cross-stream risks—not routine status.
  • Keep communication tight so teams are not waiting on the PM for work they already own.
Integration, risk, and governance
  • Identify and manage cross-workstream dependencies, constraints, and interface risks.
  • Maintain RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, decisions) at the project/program level; push stream-level RAID to owners.
  • Prepare concise steering materials: schedule health, critical path, decisions needed, and recommended options.
  • Protect scope and change control so schedule commitments remain credible.
Stakeholder and reporting
  • Serve as the coordination point for sponsors, product/business owners, and delivery leads.
  • Produce clear status that emphasizes schedule variance, dependency risk, and next decisions—not activity lists.
  • Align workstream messaging so leadership hears one integrated story.
*What This Role Does Not Own*
  • Day-to-day execution inside a workstream (owned by the workstream owner).
  • Deep subject-matter design or technical solutioning, except where it affects schedule or integration.
  • Line management of workstream staff unless separately assigned.
  • Portfolio prioritization or PMO policy, except as an input and feedback partner.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of project or program delivery experience, including senior-level coordination of multi-workstream initiatives.
  • Proven ownership of integrated schedules (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Primavera, Jira Align, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success working through workstream owners, team leads, or functional leads rather than managing every task directly.
  • Strong facilitation skills: dependency mapping, conflict resolution, and decision-forcing conversations.
  • Ability to run a lean operating cadence (plan, sync, exception, report) without adding bureaucracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with both delivery teams and executives.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; PMP, PRINCE2, or comparable certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Construction, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
  • Program-level exposure (multiple related projects or a large transformation with several workstreams).
  • Familiarity with both predictive and agile/hybrid planning.
  • Experience partnering with a PMO, project coordinator, or scheduler.
  • Schedule discipline — treats the plan as an operating tool, not a reporting artifact.
  • Integration thinking — sees handoffs, bottlenecks, and critical path across teams.
  • Influence without authority — coordinates workstream owners who may report elsewhere.
  • Judgment — knows when to stay out of a workstream and when to intervene.
  • Calm under concurrent pressure — holds multiple timelines without dropping commitments.
  • Clarity — short updates, explicit owners, explicit dates.
Compensation

$140,000–$175,000 base ($150,000–$185,000) total including bonus.

  • 401(k) match
  • medical
  • employee discount on primary residence
  • profit share (after vesting)
