Job description

Location: Houston, Texas

Industry: Power Generation / Energy Infrastructure

Position: Senior Project Manager

RoydenBrault is seeking an accomplished Senior Project Manager to support the development and execution of a mega-scale power generation investment project in the Houston area.

This is a senior project leadership role for an individual who understands not only how major power projects are engineered and constructed, but also how they are developed, structured, planned, governed, de-risked, and prepared for successful investment and financing decisions.

The successful candidate will work across the full project lifecycle—from development and feasibility through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation—while coordinating investors, developers, engineering partners, contractors, technology providers, consultants, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead overall project planning, development, execution strategy, and delivery.
  • Establish an integrated roadmap from project development through commercial operation.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, commissioning, and project controls activities.
  • Develop and manage the Project Execution Plan, master schedule, cost plan, risk register, contracting strategy, and governance framework.
  • Support feasibility studies, technical evaluations, constructability reviews, technology assessments, and investment decision packages.
  • Manage and coordinate EPC/EPCM contractors, OEMs, engineering consultants, vendors, and specialist advisors.
  • Drive project cost, schedule, risk, change, and performance management.
  • Identify critical project risks and establish practical mitigation and contingency strategies.
  • Support development of reliable CAPEX forecasts, cash-flow requirements, contingency strategy, and completion forecasts.
  • Work with commercial, financial, legal, and technical teams to improve overall project readiness and bankability.
  • Support technical and project-execution aspects of project financing, investor due diligence, lender reviews, and investment approvals.
  • Establish clear executive-level reporting for project sponsors and senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong ownership of project interfaces, decisions, action items, and commitments.
  • Ensure that engineering and execution decisions remain aligned with the project's commercial and investment objectives.
  • Lead the project with a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule certainty, cost predictability, and commercial viability.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant project management experience within the power generation, energy, or major infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large and complex capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of major project lifecycle activities including:
  • Development → Feasibility → FEED/Engineering → Procurement → Construction → Commissioning → Commercial Operation
  • Experience working with EPC, EPCM, OEM, developer, owner, utility, or major investment organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, cost management, forecasting, risk management, change management, and contract administration.
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to understand the relationship between technical decisions, project risk, CAPEX, schedule, and investment returns.
  • Excellent executive communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving project development environment where scope and strategy continue to mature.
Highly Preferred

Experience in one or more of the following will be particularly valuable:

  • Large-scale thermal or gas-fired power generation
  • Combined-cycle power plants
  • Gas turbines and major rotating equipment
  • Nuclear or advanced power technologies
  • Utility-scale energy infrastructure
  • Greenfield power plant development
  • EPC/EPCM project delivery
  • Owner's engineering / owner's project management
  • Project development and investment-stage projects
  • Project finance or lender/investor technical due diligence
  • Power plant commissioning and startup

PMP or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

The Profile We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who can look at a major project from the owner's and investor's perspective.

The right person should be capable of walking into a developing mega-project, understanding where it stands, identifying what is missing, determining the critical path to execution, organizing the project team and delivery structure, and systematically moving the project toward technical, commercial, financing, and construction readiness.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working at both levels:

Executive level: investment strategy, project risk, major decisions, financing readiness, stakeholder alignment, and governance.

Execution level: engineering deliverables, contracts, schedules, cost forecasts, risks, interfaces, construction strategy, and day-to-day project performance.

We are looking for a project leader—not simply a coordinator.

Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to participate in the development of a significant power generation investment project from an early stage and directly influence its execution strategy and long-term success.

The selected individual will work closely with experienced power, engineering, project management, commercial, and investment professionals to transform an ambitious energy concept into an execution-ready, financeable, and ultimately operational asset.

Houston-area candidates are strongly preferred.

Qualified candidates with substantial mega-project and power-generation experience are encouraged to apply.
