Charlotte, NC | Full-Time | Fully Onsite | Up to $200K + Bonus + Benefits

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead large, complex engineered projects within the power generation and heavy industrial sectors.

This is a senior, client-facing role with end-to-end ownership of multimillion-dollar capital projects, from contract award through engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction/installation, commissioning, and final closeout.

You will serve as the central point of accountability across customers, engineering, procurement, suppliers, subcontractors, construction teams, and senior leadership. You will own project execution, schedule, financial performance, commercial strategy, and customer relationships.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of project management experience within power generation, EPC, industrial equipment, energy, refinery/petrochemical, or large-scale industrial plant environments.

What You'll Own
  • Lead complex engineered projects from contract award through commissioning and closeout
  • Own project budgets, schedules, milestones, costs, margins, cash flow, and overall financial performance
  • Coordinate execution across engineering, procurement, supply chain, fabrication, logistics, construction, and commissioning
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing project leader
  • Manage relationships with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and other external partners
  • Review and manage project contracts, technical specifications, schedules, engineering deliverables, and documentation
  • Identify scope changes and lead change orders, commercial negotiations, claims management, and contract-risk mitigation
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals and negotiate scope, pricing, schedules, and deliverables
  • Protect project profitability while maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Lead multidisciplinary project resources across domestic and international teams
  • Identify project risks early and drive corrective action across schedule, cost, quality, and contractual commitments
  • Participate in customer meetings and periodic project/site visits as required
What We're Looking For
Required
  • 10+ years of Project Management experience involving complex engineered or industrial projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing large capital projects, ideally $10M+
  • Industry experience within power generation, EPC, industrial equipment, thermal systems/heat transfer, oil & gas, refinery/petrochemical, energy infrastructure, or heavy industrial/process plants
  • Experience managing projects across multiple phases of engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning
  • Strong ownership of project budgets, schedules, costs, margins, and financial performance
  • Commercial and contractual experience involving change orders, claims, scope management, contract risk, and negotiations
  • Experience serving as the primary customer/client interface on major projects
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and engineering documentation
  • Strong supplier, subcontractor, and stakeholder management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or comparable project scheduling tools
  • Willingness to travel periodically for customer meetings and project/site activities
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or another relevant Engineering discipline
  • Experience with an EPC contractor, OEM, industrial equipment manufacturer, or engineered systems provider
  • Direct experience within power generation or thermal systems
  • Experience with air-cooled condensers, heat exchangers, cooling systems, steam-cycle equipment, or related mechanical systems
  • Experience managing projects with multi-year execution cycles
  • International project experience involving globally distributed engineering teams, suppliers, or customers
  • Familiarity with CAD environments and engineering document-control processes
  • PMP certification
The Profile That Will Excel Here

You're more than a project scheduler or coordinator. You're comfortable moving between technical, operational, commercial, and customer-facing responsibilities.

You can review project financials with leadership, work with engineers to resolve a technical issue, negotiate a change order with a customer, challenge a supplier on schedule or scope, and lead a project meeting with an EPC customer.

Most importantly, you understand how to take ownership of a major capital project and drive it through successful execution while protecting schedule, customer commitments, and profitability.
