LVI Associates is seeking a Manager, Project Development to drive early-stage power generation and electrical infrastructure projects. You will evaluate interconnection options, lead technical analyses, and coordinate with utilities, contractors, and internal teams.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in utility-scale infrastructure, strong budgeting and scheduling skills, and excellent communication abilities for executive audiences. Occasional travel and collaboration across sites are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) required.
  • 10+ years in utility-scale electrical infrastructure, power generation, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission, distribution, substations, generation facilities, and energy storage.
  • Experience evaluating interconnection opportunities and utility-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with grid reliability, system planning, and resiliency concepts.
  • Knowledge of major grid operators, interconnection processes, and industry standards.
  • Experience developing conceptual budgets, cost estimates, and development schedules.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

A growing energy solutions organization is seeking an experienced Manager, Project Development to support the development of large-scale power generation and electrical infrastructure projects. This individual will play a critical role in evaluating, advancing, and managing early-stage projects that provide reliable power solutions for industrial, commercial, and high-demand energy users.

The position focuses on technical project development activities involving generation facilities, transmission and distribution infrastructure, grid interconnections, energy storage systems, and related electrical assets. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, commercial, finance, legal, construction, and external stakeholders to move projects from concept through permitting and readiness for construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership during early-stage project evaluation and development activities.
  • Assess grid interconnection opportunities, electrical infrastructure requirements, and overall project feasibility.
  • Perform power system and network reviews to identify reliability concerns, redundancy requirements, and resiliency improvements.
  • Develop conceptual solutions involving substations, transmission facilities, generation assets, microgrids, and energy storage systems.
  • Lead technology evaluations and vendor assessments, including equipment selection and procurement considerations.
  • Prepare conceptual cost estimates and support economic evaluations for infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying critical path activities, permitting requirements, procurement milestones, and long-lead equipment considerations.
  • Facilitate meetings with customers, utilities, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate land due diligence activities, including surveys, title review, and related development requirements.
  • Support contractor selection efforts and collaborate closely with construction teams during project transition.
  • Prepare technical presentations, risk assessments, and recommendations for leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in financing and due diligence efforts by providing technical documentation and project support.
  • Manage external consultants and development budgets throughout project execution.
  • Assist with business development activities, reporting, and project pipeline management.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in utility-scale electrical infrastructure, power generation, energy development, engineering, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission, distribution, substations, generation facilities, and energy storage systems.
  • Experience evaluating interconnection opportunities and utility-scale power projects.
  • Familiarity with grid reliability, system planning, and resiliency concepts.
  • Working knowledge of major grid operators, utility interconnection processes, and industry standards.
  • Experience developing conceptual project budgets, cost estimates, and development schedules.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for project meetings and site visits.
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience with thermal generation facilities, including gas-fired power plants and related auxiliary systems.
  • Familiarity with power system modeling, load flow analysis, short circuit studies, or software platforms such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSCAD, or ETAP.
  • Experience working with CRM systems, project metrics, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of ERCOT and other ISO/RTO markets.
