Job summary

East Central District Health Department/Good Neighbor Community Health Center is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead planning, coordination, and execution of complex, multi-partner public health initiatives funded by diverse funders. You will supervise project coordinators and focus on delivery, integration, and problem-solving to keep initiatives on time and within scope.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate grants and multi-partner initiatives in health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Lead implementation across multiple program areas.
  • Design workflows and strategic approaches to meet objectives.
  • Support quality improvement efforts and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Represent the organization at coalitions, community meetings, and professional events.
  • Provide coaching, prioritization support, and problem-solving assistance.
  • Escalate project issues to Health Services Supervisor when needed.
  • Ensure alignment across departments and initiatives.
  • Identify operational risks and bottlenecks; recommend course corrections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) leads planning, coordination, and execution of complex multi-partner public health initiatives funded through various funders. This role ensures projects move forward on time, within scope, and in alignment with state and federal expectations. The SPM directly supervises project coordinators while focusing on delivery, integration, and problem-solving.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinate a variety of evolving grants focused on an assortment of subjects, such as health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Lead implementation of initiatives across multiple program areas.
  • Design workflows and strategic approaches to meet grant-specific or programmatic objectives.
  • Support QI efforts for grant-required and agency-identified priority areas, including quality measures and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Represent ECDHD at coalitions, community health improvement planning, community meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide coaching, prioritization support, and problem-solving assistance.
  • Serve as a first-line escalation point for project-level issues.
  • Facilitate alignment across departments and initiatives.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints.
  • Recommend course corrections when projects drift off track
  • Escalate issues appropriately to the Health Services Supervisor when decisions or resource adjustments are needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, public administration, or related field required.

  • Experience or prior involvement in the development, improvement, or evaluation of health programs/services in community settings.
  • Experience working in non-profit or government settings.

SUPERVISION:

This position directly supervises public health project coordinators.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

May require sitting for a long period of time. Some bending, lifting, stooping and stretching required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as computer keyboard, photocopier, telephone and calculator. Some lifting may be involved, up to 35 pounds.
