Job summary

  • Implement QA/QC procedures and mentor junior PMs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

Position Summary

HDR is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on Tech/Media/Telecom, Data Centers, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. The Senior Project Manager will execute HDR’s project management tasks including proposal generation, quality control, risk assessment, and on time design deliverable execution, while engaging with clients and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multi-discipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close‑out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of large multi‑discipline projects or medium‑sized projects with a high degree of technical complexity, involving a large project staff
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through the entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure that work is completed within agreed‑to budget and schedule parameters
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as a mentor for less‑experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A license or certification
  • PMP certification
  • Familiarity with Primavera P3 or SureTrak software preferred
  • Familiarity with Prolog software preferred
  • Ability to manage, lead, and mentor other team members
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Experience designing complex and large‑scale healthcare, laboratory, and/or mission‑critical data center facilities
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, and have excellent organizational, project management, and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must

Compensation

Expected compensation range: $142,142.00 – $203,060.00 (dependent on skills, experience, education, and geographic location). Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions; temporary and part-time roles are eligible for limited benefits.
