Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Project Manager for its Building Engineering Services group in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on Tech/Media/Telecom, Data Centers, and Mission Critical facilities, requiring leadership of multidisciplinary teams and strong client relations.

The Senior PM will manage project delivery, budgets, and schedules, collaborate with BES leadership, and participate in marketing and planning activities. Travel to IL/IN project sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software
  • Must have strong organizational, project management and communication skills
  • Active participant in employee‑owned culture

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close‑out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium‑sized projects with high degree of technical complexity
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed‑to budget and schedule
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less‑experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed

HDR is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Chicago, IL. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. While we work in a wide variety of markets this role will be focused on Tech/Media/Telecom, Data Centers, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the execution of HDR’s project management tasks including proposal generation, quality control, risk assessment, and on-time design deliverable execution. This dynamic individual will be engaged with clients and will require leadership and communication skills that facilitate team collaboration. In this role, you will collaborate with the BES Business Group Manager to build strong external client relationships as well as internal bonds with other HDR PMs. Other responsibilities include participating in marketing and project planning and serving as a representative of HDR to the local industry.

Travel to project site locations throughout IL/IN is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A license/certification
  • PMP certification
  • Familiar with Primavera P3 or SureTrak software preferred
  • Familiar with Prolog software preferred
  • Ability to manage, lead and mentor other team members
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Experience designing complex and large‑scale healthcare, laboratory, and / or mission critical data center facilities
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
