Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its Building Engineering Services Business Group in downtown Chicago, IL. The role oversees proposal generation, quality control, risk assessment and timely delivery of design deliverables.

The candidate will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage small projects or parts of larger projects, and ensure on-site execution with close collaboration across project teams. HDR emphasizes its employee-owned culture and on-site project work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with diverse design teams.

Job description

HDR is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its Building Engineering Services Business Group located in downtown Chicago, IL. The role involves overseeing project management tasks such as proposal generation, quality control, risk assessment, and timely delivery of design deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work of single or multi‑discipline teams throughout the project's life cycle under the supervision of a Project Manager.
  • Manage many aspects of a small project or a specific part of a larger project.
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
  • Work from the site at all times, with extended periods on site as required by client contract.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload throughout the project life cycle to ensure on‑schedule delivery.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, adjust work effort to stay within budget and schedule parameters.
  • Work with the Project Manager, accounting, operations and business leadership for periodic project reviews.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
  • Experience designing complex and large‑scale healthcare, laboratory, and/or mission‑critical data center facilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to interact with various design teams, excellent organizational, project management and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Commitment to participating actively in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
