Qualifications

Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing construction projects from award through final closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within established budgets, and in accordance with contractual obligations and company standards.

This position manages day-to-day project administration, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, subcontractor coordination, procurement, documentation, and stakeholder communication. The Project Manager works closely with field leadership, estimating, accounting, operations, and senior management to support successful project delivery and maintain strong financial and operational performance.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage assigned construction projects from contract award through final closeout.
  • Establish and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Review, interpret, and administer construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and related project documents.
  • Coordinate subcontractor selection, procurement, contract administration, and performance.
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, changes, and overall financial performance.
  • Manage change orders, pricing, cost impacts, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate project schedules, material procurement, equipment requirements, and resource planning.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including owners, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and other representatives.
  • Work closely with field management to support productivity, quality, schedule adherence, and safe work practices.
  • Review project billing, payment applications, job cost reports, and financial documentation.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change requests, correspondence, and contract modifications.
  • Lead or participate in project meetings, site visits, coordination meetings, and progress reviews.
  • Identify and address project risks, potential delays, cost exposures, and other issues before they impact project performance.
  • Support dispute resolution, claims prevention, and effective contract administration.
  • Ensure project activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety requirements, company policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and organized project records and documentation.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities, including as-built documentation, warranties, final billing, punch-list completion, and turnover materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality of project financial information, contractual matters, and proprietary business information.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business and operational requirements.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant construction/project management experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in construction, civil infrastructure, utilities, or a related industry.
  • Experience managing underground utility, infrastructure, site development, or similar construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with project budgets, schedules, cost management, subcontractors, and contract administration.

Licenses & Certifications

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong understanding of construction project management principles and cost-control practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and related technical documentation.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and financial management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software, estimating or cost-control systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to handle confidential project and business information appropriately.
