Responsibilities

  • Understand the company’s products, components, processes, and materials to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strategic customer relationships and solicit feedback on performance.
  • Lead design, development, and management of complex projects to meet customer needs and timelines.
  • Define and document project scope, assemble teams, review plans, and adjust based on feedback.
  • Use project management tools (SmartSheets) to plan deadlines, critical paths, and milestones.
  • Set steps and milestones aligning with customer and manufacturing needs to meet critical dates.
  • Manage lifecycle for large projects including sourcing materials, inventory, and prototypes.
  • Ensure timely approval drawings, manage changes and POs with updated tracking.
  • Conduct weekly reviews and provide executive-level progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Source and price complex projects, prepare estimates and quotations, coordinate with shop and field teams.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure timely production and quality standards; maintain Master Control color samples for finishes.
  • Identify and solve high-impact problems on-site and drive organizational improvements by eliminating waste.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline processes and mentor team members.
  • Attend production, quality, and safety meetings; contribute to best practices.
  • Achieve targets and follow company policies.

We are looking for a Project Manager to support our EMI team in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Position Overview:

The Senior Project Manager plays a critical senior role in driving the growth of our custom store fixture manufacturing company by leading complex, high-value projects from sales to delivery and installation of custom fixtures, including millwork, metal, refrigeration products, specialty cabinetry, casework, and related solutions for retailers, convenience stores, restaurants, supermarkets, and other commercial uses. This position ensures projects meet and exceed customer specifications for design, functionality, quality, timeliness, and profitability while providing high-level communication across sales, manufacturing, installation teams, and customers. The Senior PM also mentors junior team members, drives process improvements, and builds strategic customer relationships to expand our well-established base. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader with advanced organizational skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in custom manufacturing environments.

Essential Job Functions:

• Understand the company’s manufactured products, components, processes, and materials at an expert level, including their intended and actual use in the field, to ensure optimal high-quality outcomes.

• Develop and maintain strategic customer relationships, acting as a trusted advisor while proactively anticipating needs and soliciting feedback on performance.

• Lead the design, development, and management of complex projects that meet all customer needs, including timely completion of estimates, samples, prototypes, proposals, and accurate drawings.

• Clearly define and document project scope, functions, responsibilities, and specifications; assemble and lead project teams, review plans, obtain buy-in, and adjust based on feedback.

• Utilize advanced project management tools (e.g., SmartSheets) to create detailed plans identifying deadlines, critical paths, responsible parties, quality standards, and packaging requirements, while proactively highlighting and mitigating potential issues.

• Establish specific steps, timelines, and milestones for each project to align with customer and manufacturing needs, ensuring adherence to critical dates for superior customer satisfaction.

• Manage the entire project lifecycle for larger and more complex projects, including sourcing materials, coordinating inventory levels and deliveries, generating material usage and time studies, and facilitating prototypes as needed.

• Ensure all required approval drawings are submitted on time, manage changes, revisions, purchase orders, and change orders, documenting approvals and updating tracking software.

• Conduct weekly project reviews with the team, provide executive-level progress reports using technology, and maintain regular communication logs with customers, general contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time, complete deliveries and identify special requirements.

• Source and price complex projects in a timely manner, prepare cost estimates and custom quotations, and coordinate orders, sales, and installations with shop supervisors and field staffs.

• Work directly with manufacturing to ensure projects are produced timely, meet specifications and quality standards, and are processed for maximum profitability; maintain consistent manufacturing standards, such as using Master Control Color Samples for non-standard finishes.

• Identify and solve high-impact problems on-site, keep project files orderly and current, and conduct thorough post-mortems with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing) to analyze material/labor usage and drive organization-wide improvements in processes, margins, and efficiencies by eliminating waste.

• Lead or participate in initiatives to streamline administrative and manufacturing processes, review existing products for improvements in quality, design, and efficiencies, and mentor team members to meet goals and standards.

• Attend production, quality, and safety meetings to stay informed on corporate needs and policies and contribute to departmental best practices.

• Achieve individual, team, and company goals, maximize shareholder value, and follow all company employment and safety rules.

• Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge or background in woodworking and/or metal fabrication, design, CAD, shop experience, and project management, with deep expertise in processes and materials related to custom store fixtures.

• Ability to read a tape measure, blueprints, and/or architectural plans.

• Proven track record successfully managing complex, high-value projects.

• Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, demanding, multi-task environment.

• Superior verbal and written communication skills for high-level interactions with co-workers, vendors, and customers.

• Proficient basic math skills and detail-oriented approach.

• Ability to work harmoniously with teams, adapt quickly to changes, and commit to continuous learning and growth.

• Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision while providing guidance to others.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, architectural, construction, engineering, or a related field preferred, or commensurate experience.

• Minimum eight (8) years of relevant work experience in project management, design, or manufacturing, preferably in custom fixtures or related industries, with demonstrated success leading complex projects.
