Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a seasoned program manager to oversee operational aspects of complex defense projects, acting as liaison between project management, planning, and line management. You will review project status and budgets, manage schedules, and prepare reports, while developing mechanisms to monitor progress and resolve issues with managers and clients.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree and 6 years of exempt experience; Navy NNPS or Apprentice

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with relevant experience as specified.
• NNS Apprentice School graduate or NNPS graduate.
• Combination of degrees and experience as outlined.
• Military experience or paygrade E-5+ considered.
• High School/GED with years of manufacturing/shipbuilding/military experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects; liaison between project management and planning, team and line management.
• Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
• Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals.
• Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with managers and clients.
