Job summary

Sunrun is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead complex project finance transactions and provide strategic, risk-informed advice to executives. The role centers on structuring, negotiating, and closing multi-million dollar deals involving tax equity, debt, and securitizations for distributed renewable energy projects.

You will partner with cross-functional teams, manage outside counsel, and shape Sunrun’s approach to legal risk in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. Degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum of 4+ years focused on Project Finance law.
• Strong focus on renewable energy financing transactions.
• Proven ability to drive complex, high-value transactions from term sheet to closing.

Responsibilities

• Draft and manage closing mechanics for complex project financing transactions.
• Coordinate corporate approvals and disclosures with executives and the board.
• Oversee due diligence processes including KYC and consumer protection.
• Provide autonomous legal counsel to non-lawyer business partners.
• Utilize AI tools to enhance productivity and workflows.
