Job summary

Dick Anderson Construction in Helena, Montana is seeking a Full-Time Project Estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects. You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and collaborate with Project Managers during bidding.

Occasional travel to project sites is required. Qualifications include a 5+ year estimating background in heavy civil or commercial construction, strong reading of drawings and contract documents, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or commercial construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing accurate cost estimates.
• Knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and production rates.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and other construction-related applications.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains bid lists and estimating logs; researches potential projects and obtains plans.
• Gathers data for estimates with PM; notes risks and calculates quantities.
• Reviews plans/specs, estimates assumptions and production rates; requests subcontractor quotes.
• Accounts for safety costs in bids, including trench boxes and safety measures.
