Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Project Engineering Manager for food manufacturing to lead project design, cost estimation, and execution across multi-site operations. You will coordinate with vendors, plant personnel, and engineering teams to ensure compliant, cost-effective implementations, while maintaining rigorous documentation and schedules.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years of experience, 2+ years in leadership, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; travel up to 50%

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience.
• 2+ years in a leadership role with team development and management.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
• Experience with food processing/meat industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary designs and specifications for engineering and materials, and prepare project cost estimates.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses to ensure viable, cost-effective designs.
• Define design criteria based on standards and codes; validate field work and as-built drawings.
• Review projects for accuracy and manage execution by guiding vendors and contractors.
• Coordinate project schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors with management and engineering teams.
• Direct equipment vendors on layouts, utility requirements, and installation schedules.
• Review consultant work and suggest adjustments as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation: manuals, diagrams, parts lists, specifications, and vendor contacts.
