The candidate should be well-versed in preparing design documents (including calculation sheets, drawings, specifications), engineering reports, and contract documents for bidding and construction, as well as overseeing the construction of projects in the field.

NSU offers a unique opportunity for engineers to gain hands‑on experience, with opportunities to see how plants are operated and leverage construction expertise for better project design. Additionally, there will be significant opportunities to lead projects, interact with external clients and train junior staff members.

  • Engage with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies in a professional manner.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for material and service quotes.
  • Conduct site inspections and manage construction administration (e.g., submittal reviews, RFIs).
  • Ensure project compliance with specifications, codes, and permits.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to Fall River, MA, or the surrounding area prior to their start date.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of wastewater treatment processes and equipment, hydraulics, piping systems, electromechanical systems and instrumentation.
  • Experience leading the design or portions of design.
  • Experience working with and coordinating discipline work (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, Geotech, survey, etc.) internally and externally.
  • Proficient in using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with other teams and train junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge both in person and remotely.
  • Operations experience is a plus.

This position will work on engineering projects related to wastewater systems design. It is not related to IT, software, or technology so candidates with those backgrounds will not be considered.
